Update on the Implementation of the Collective Agreement
Wednesday, August 7, 2024
We would like to provide you with an update on the implementation of the new collective agreement, as communicated to us by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS). TBS has provided us with of the following updates.
Key Milestones Achieved:
- July 16, 2024: The revised rates of pay, reflecting the new single pay grid, were added to the pay system. Please note that this does not mean updated rates of pay will immediately appear on pay stubs.
- July 31, 2024: Most eligible LP-classified employees received the $2,500 one-time allowance
Next Steps:
LP-classified employees will transition to the new single pay grid and the corresponding updated rate of pay upon review of their respective pay files. Due to the complexity of this transition, many cases require manual review. We do not have specific timelines at this moment for when the majority of LP-classified employees will see updated pay rates or retroactive adjustments on their pay stubs.
The AJC has scheduled regular bi-weekly meetings with TBS to review progress until the full implementation is completed. As per the terms of the agreement, the employer has 180 days to process retroactive payments from the date the new Collective Agreement was signed (May 3, 2024) for cases that do not require manual intervention. For cases that require manual processing, it may take up to 460 days. Rest assured, that we will hold the Employer to account and have not ruled out any options in pursuing a remedy should deadlines not be met.
We continue to be fully committed to ensuring that the necessary adjustments are made in a timely manner and will keep you updated on any progress.
