New Pay Errors Revealed on Retro Performance Pay and Other Updates
Monday, November 19, 2018
Thanks to the many reports we received from members about not receiving retroactive performance pay, we have just learned and confirmed that retroactive pay on performance pay was never processed, on account of a complete ignorance of how retroactive pay for our members is actually supposed to be processed. The Pay Centre is now aware of the problem thanks to you!
This therefore means that despite recent reporting to the membership in our November 5and November 9 communiques, there are now well over a 1800 additional cases of members who are at the top of the salary scale and have amounts owing. These specific cases do not currently appear on any department list or on Track myCase.
The Pay Centre confirms that all retroactive pay adjustments have been completed. Once the retroactive pay on performance pay, have been completed, we will advise you. The estimate is that these should be completed before the end of the year.
For those not currently paid through Phoenix, as of November 3rd, there were some 29 employees remaining within the Office of the Commissioner of Federal Judicial Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages, the Canadian Transportation Agency and Elections Canada. We await an update to confirm whether compensation advisors responsible for processing pay for these departments have duly processed retroactive pay as it relates to performance pay.
For the benefit of those not receiving pay-related communiques from their own departments, please find enclosed a copy of a communique that was circulated within the Department of Justice.
Please note that the AJC has filed a policy grievance.
If you are as incensed as we are, we urge you to write your Parliamentarian to help us spread the word and let your MP know that the government must comply with the rule of law and meet their contractual obligations. Here is a template letter that you can sign or adapt as needed and address to your Member of Parliament.
A copy of your Collective Agreement covering the period from May 9th 2014 to May 9th 2018 came into effect on November 7th 2018 is now available online.
